Welia Health continues to support local high school graduates further their education by providing $8,000 in renewable scholarships
Welia Health proudly announces its continued commitment to supporting local high school graduates’ education and development in various medical career paths. By providing renewable scholarships totaling $8,000, Welia Health aims to foster the future of healthcare, strengthen the local workforce, and contribute to recruitment efforts in rural areas.
Since its inception in 2010, Welia Health has invested a remarkable $272,000 in scholarships, empowering talented students to pursue their dreams and achieve excellence in their chosen medical fields. The recent scholarship recipients for the 2023-2024 academic year showcase the diversity of healthcare career paths being pursued:
Zethan Schultz, a graduate of Mora High School
Parents’ Names: Matt and Amy Schultz
Attending: Gustavus Adolphus College
Major: Biology or Biochemistry; aspiring to become a Cardiovascular Surgeon
What are you looking forward to this summer: I have recently obtained my State of Minnesota Emergency Medical Certification through Pine Technical and Community College with the hopes of working as an EMT in the area and volunteering for Kanabec County First Responders this summer. In my down time, I plan to volunteer for with the local Boy Scout troop and explore the various rivers, bike paths, and hiking trails around Minnesota.
Alexa Peterson, a graduate of Ogilvie High School

Major: Business Administration, with a possible minor or double major in accounting
What are you looking forward to this summer: I am looking forward to working and spending days either in the pool or at the lake.

What are you looking forward to this summer? This summer I am looking forward to spending time outdoors with my friends and family.
Arianna Williams, a graduate of Hinckley-Finlayson High School

What are you looking forward to this summer? This summer I am looking forward to being with friends and family. I love to kayak and spend time outdoors, so I am very excited to do that as well.
Through a rigorous selection process, including assessment of academics, extracurricular activities, work experience, letters of recommendation, and personal essays, the scholarship committee identified these exceptional students who exemplify dedication, talent and a genuine passion for healthcare.

The Welia Health scholarships are renewable for a maximum of four years, contingent on the recipients’ full-time enrollment in a two or four-year post-secondary degree program in a healthcare discipline deemed desirable by Welia Health. Additionally, recipients must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher.
