What is Concussion Baseline Testing?
It’s a series of physical and cognitive tests that measure healthy brain function before a sports season starts – and prior to an injury. In the event of a concussion, the results of these tests are used as a comparison to help healthcare providers make return-to-sport decisions.
Why is it important?
The disappearance of symptoms after a concussion does not indicate that an athlete’s brain has fully recovered. Baseline Testing provides data that gives providers a clearer picture of the athlete’s healthy state and what type of results should be achieved when the athlete is fully recovered.
All student-athletes in grades 7-12 intending to play during the 2022-23 school year should plan to be tested at a free Concussion Clinic.
